Black History Month is a time to reflect on the contributions and achievements of Black individuals throughout history, but also to remember the struggles and challenges they have faced and continue to face. Just like those who have had to overcome obstacles to keep moving forward, we must learn from our experiences and use them to do better.
Starship strives every day to live up to our core values. These are the values that guide each of us, and they extend beyond our work within the company to the people we work with, the people we reach, and the impact we seek to create. extends to things. Each journey, whether personal or professional, is an opportunity to learn and improve.
First, let me assure you that technology diversity is still a concern in 2023. According to the Kapor Center’s 2022 State of Tech Diversity Report, “Between 2014 and 2021, the proportion of black people in tech positions at large tech companies increased by just 1 percent.” To reach a point where it is widely accepted that an open, fair and inclusive workplace benefits everyone. Such a work environment provides the right space for different perspectives, nurtures creativity, enhances problem-solving skills and fosters innovation. As a company, we are passionate about diversifying our leadership team (representatives matter) and expanding his DEI commitment. The late activist and literary icon Maya Angelou said: And when we know better, we do better. ”
By working as a team and being data-driven, Starship will help you achieve more together than you could ever before alone. As we reflect on the myriad barriers and obstacles that the people of BIPOC have overcome, we are inspired by this resilience and determination to overcome adversity while overcoming every curb, and that we too can overcome these challenges. I know. The dedication of our Black colleagues, friends and family is a reminder that with perseverance we can always achieve our goals and aspirations.
In the spirit of progress and innovation, we want this time to be a reminder of the purpose of Black History Month through a conscious awareness of the historical leaders who have brought us to where we are today. I’m here. Later this month, Starship will share highlights of her Black contributors in the AI and robotics field, highlighting the outstanding achievements of BIPOC pioneers. Without their outstanding contributions, AI and robotics would not be where they are today.
